Video: Lupe Fiasco Kicked Off Stage For Anti-Obama Rants

Lupe Fiasco

Almost 2 years ago in 2011, Lupe Fiasco released his song Words I Never Said in which he begins a rant of statements;

Limbaugh is a racist, Glenn Beck is a racist. Gaza Strip was getting bombed, Obama didn’t say shit. That’s why I ain’t vote for him, next one either.”

That caught a lot of people by surprise and when he was asked to clarify, he made it worse by stating, “the biggest terrorist is Obama in the United States of America.” which made black supporters go pretty insane.

With all that’s known about Lupe Fiasco and his ultimate dislike of President Obama, why in he world would Washington DC event promoter StartUp Rockon hire him to perform at an Obama Inauguration Party? No idea. But it happened.

In the video below, you can see that he doesn’t shy away from performing Words I Never Said and was even reported to have performed a 30 minute diatribe filled with anti-Obama rants..at an Obama Inauguration Party. Thought we might want to drill that home again for perspective purposes. The 30 minute piece is what was reported to have started the issue because he refused to move to the next song. The video also shows the club then dropping the lights to shut him down, but Lupe Fiasco keeps playing through the bands stage monitors until eventually security comes and escorts him off the stage.

Spin magazine reported that media company HyperVocal, a partner of event host StartUp Rockon, issued a statement emphasizing that Lupe Fiasco “was not ‘kicked off stage’ for an ‘anti-Obama rant.'” They said, “Instead, after a bizarrely repetitive, jarring performance that left the crowd vocally dissatisfied, organizers decided to move on to the next act.”

We’re confident that you can watch the video and see that he was kicked off the stage. This was not a “Hey, we’re going to move on to the next act” scenario. This was a “Get the hell off the stage Obama hater.”

While comments could go either way with this “fiasco”, the blame lies ultimately with the club promoter who obviously did no research whatsoever. Hats off to Lupe Fiasco by staying true to his self because everyone is entitled to their opinions, but who’s in the right here?
