Big Night Out Returns
Rival Entertainment returns to Atlanta with a two night event at the Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark on October 3rd and 4th, 2025. Night one on October 3rd features the multi-genre band band Lake Street Dive that was formed in 2004 at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and fresh off of the Outlaw Music Festival tour that featured Willie Nelson & Family and Bob Dylan. Lake Street Dive pushed the possibilities of pop music as a unifying force, not only through their eclectic sound—a boldly original cross-pollination of soul, folk, jazz, classic pop, and more—the five-piece’s all-embracing ethos has also made them a beloved live band known for building a potent connection among every crowd.
Night two will feature our good friends from the ATL, Butch Walker and the Marvelous 3 best known for their hit Freak of the Week. All three band members had played together previously in glam outfit SouthGang, Floyds Funk Revival, and The Floyds, before reemerging as Marvelous 3 in 1997 when they released their first album, Math and Other Problems, which would sell just over 4,000 copies by January 2000.
The band’s most successful album – Hey! Album – was released in the fall of 1998, with the lead single “Freak of the Week” reaching number 5 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart and number 23 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The band toured with bands such as Collective Soul, SR-71, Dynamite Hack, and Train, and appeared on the WB television show Charmed. By 2000, Hey! Album had sold 90,000 copies in the US. Following a final tour, in which the band headlined Music Midtown in May 2001, they ended with a final farewell show at Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park in August 2001.
