Suwannee Hulaween To Funk Florida
There are some festivals that seem to have a mixed bag of results over the years, but if any music event learns from its past mistakes, it’s almost certainly the Suwannee Hulaween string of festivals. In the past, they stuck with the same tried and true bands in the cozy corner of Florida known as Live Oak. For the most part, the event would come and go quietly, but this year looks very, very different.
While the usual suspects are in place including 3 nights of The String Cheese Incident, Lettuce, Jennifer Hartwick, Papdosio and the like, the organizers threw in more artist that are typically outside of their comfort zone this year that will certainly appeal to Prince fans including Janelle Monae, Mavis Staples, and even some acts that seem outside of their comfort zone such as the legendary Jamiroquai.
This year’s schedule was also strategically placed to accommodate funk pioneers Galactic, funk tech duo The Floozies, STS9, and underground funk masters Vulfpeck.
Tickets for Tier 1 are currently sold out, but there are still 3 day general admission tickets available for $269 while literally all of the VIP tickets are sold out. That’s a great indication of just how well this event was structured and testament to just how musically sound it’s being received.
